Love this grilling sauce as it is not a red or tomato-based sauce. It has been a family favorite for generations. Each generation has experimented with the basic sauce to create interesting variations... my personal favorite is to add 1/2 cup of lime juice and 1/2 cup tequila in place of vinegar.

Ingredients For grilled florida style chicken

  • 1 c
    white vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    Wesson oil (canola oil is fine)
  • 2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 3 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 4 lg
    chicken breasts for grilling (can use quarters as well)

We didn't need to grill this chicken for an hour. All grills vary as do the size of chicken breasts so watch yours closely so as not to overcook.
  • Marinade ingredients in a bowl.

    Mix all ingredients.
  • Marinade and chicken in a resealable bag.

    Place in a leak-proof Ziploc gallon bag or covered glass dish. Marinate chicken overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Grilling the chicken.

    Grill over hot coals or gas grill turning and brushing chicken with marinade until done. Depending on the size of the chicken it could take about an hour.
