This is my favorite Chinese style dish EVER! I think it must be a lot of people's favorite since it is the most ordered Chinese dish in the US.

Ingredients For general tso's chicken

  • 2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 3/4 c
    chicken broth, chilled
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
    minced ginger
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    rice vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    dry sherry
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 2 lb
    boneless, skinless thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 c
    flour
  • oil for deep frying
  • 1 bunch
    sliced green onions

How To Make general tso's chicken

  • 1
    Heat oil in a deep wok or deep fryer such as a fry Daddy/Grandpappy. (I love my Grandpappy!)

    To make Sauce, mix 1/4 cup cornstarch and chicken broth together. Add garlic , ginger, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, and wine. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture is thickened. Set aside.

    In separate bowl mix chicken, soy sauce and garlic powder. Stir in egg, toss chicken to coat.

    Dip chicken in flour until chicken is coated evenly.

    Divide chicken in small batches and deep-fry at 350 until crispy and light brown. Drain on wire rack.

    Toss chicken with sauce.

    Plate and garnish with green onion.
