Ingredients For filipino chicken adobo

  • CHICKEN AND MARINADE
  • 4 lg
    bone in chicken thighs
  • 8 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1/3 c
    soy sauce and white vinegar
  • 3
    bay leaves
  • FOR THE COOKING
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1 sm
    onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    coarse black pepper
  • FOR SERVING
  • 2
    green onions chopped

How To Make filipino chicken adobo

  • 1
    Mix the soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and bay leaves together. Add the chicken and let marinate overnight.

    Add the oil to a large skillet. Remove the chicken from the marinade and reserve the marinade. Brown the chicken on both sides for about 5 minutes each side. Remove from pan and set aside. Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened.

    Add the water, brown sugar, black pepper and marinade to the pan and bring to a boil. Add the chicken back to the pan and let cook until the sauce is reduced and thicken like a glaze. Remove the bay leaves and discard

    Serve the chicken with the sauce and garnish with green onions,
