Celery, onions, and water chestnuts are combined with chicken and rice to create a hearty casserole. Water chestnuts and almonds add a nutty flavor and texture. Cheese mixed in with the other ingredients, it makes the chicken casserole nice and gooey once baked. Crushed cornflakes combined with melted butter are sprinkled on top. They add a nice crunch to every bite.

  • 1 c
    chopped celery
  • 2 Tbsp
    chopped onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    cooked rice
  • 2 c
    cubed cooked chicken
  • 1 can
    cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz, can sub cream of mushroom)
  • 3/4 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 can
    sliced water chestnuts, drained (8 oz)
  • 1/2 c
    slivered almonds
  • 1 c
    shredded cheese shredded
  • 2 Tbsp
    melted butter
  • 1 c
    cornflakes

How To Make country gentlemen casserole

  • Cook celery and onions in butter until tender.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cook celery and onions in butter until tender.
  • Add the onions and celery to a bowl. Add the cooked rice and chicken, cream of chicken soup, mayonnaise, water chestnuts, almonds, and cheese.
