This dish comes from a collection of "Lost Recipes".I happen to like sweet and sour combos so this was hit with me!! It is surprisingly delicious!!! AND of course cilantro!!!

Ingredients For company's coming chicken

4bone in, skin on split chicken breasts

salt and pepper

1 Tbspvegetable oil

1red pepper ,chopped fine

1/2 conion, chopped fine

1 clovegarlic, minced

1/2 tspcurry powder
-
1 cchicken broth
-
1 corange juice
-
1 Tbspcornstarch
-
3/4 cpitted dates, finely chopped

1 can11oz can mandarin oranges, drained

1 Tbspchopped fresh cilantro or parsley
How To Make company's coming chicken

1Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Heat 11/2 tsps oil in a dutch oven.Cook the chicken until brown on both sides. Transfer to a plate and discard the skin. Heat the remaining 1 1/2 tsps oil. Cook the pepper, onion and 1/2 tsp salt and cook till vegetables are softened.. stir in garlic and curry powder and cook until fragrant. Stir in broth scraping up any brown bits. Return breasts to pot and simmer, covered, and cook till done approx 20 - 25 mins. If you have a meat thermometer check the chicken, it should read 165 degrees. Remove chicken to a dish and cover loosely with foil.

2Mix the orange juice and cornstarch together in a bowl. add the juice mixture and the dates to the pot and simmer stirring constantly until sauce is thickened. remove from heat and stir in oranges and cilantro. season with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over chicken and serve.
