This was a typical and a delicious Sunday, after church dinner . It is a "TWICE COOKED CHICKEN DINNER" with creamy mashed potatoes and a veggie. From the 50 & 60s. when the family was all together. Along with delicious chicken drippings for milk gravy, then green beans, laced with bacon grease! ..YUM! OH! Be still my heart! This chicken is browned on top of the stove, then cooked in a slow-cooker to perfection! This special recipe is well worth the extra steps. Finger licking good. Enjoy!! You will think you died & went to heaven. Nancy. 8/11/13

In the morning rinse chicken pieces. Then pat dry, and lay out on a plate, to help dry for the next step. In a plastic bag, mix flour and spices together. Throw in the chicken pieces. Shake well.
  • 4

Then put golden browned chicken into a dry crockpot, adding wings first, and no liquid! Cover and cook on low setting for 7 hours.
  • 6
Remove cooked chicken and drain on a wire rack cover with foil to keep warm. While you make the gravy.

Make the milk gravy. If you want a little more gravy Just add some chicken broth. Not to much, you don't want to dilute the great juice flavor!
