Ingredients For chicken n dumplings

  • 1 can
    condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can
    chicken broth
  • 6 c
    water
  • 2 c
    chopped celery
  • 2
    onions chopped
  • 4
    carrots, sliced
  • 1
    10 oz package frozen green peas
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    chopped garlic
  • 1 lg
    rotisserie chicken, shred it. or 4 lg chicken breast
  • 3 c
    baking mix
  • 1 1/3 c
    milk

    Chicken and Dumplings I know it is still warm in AZ, but the cool weather is approaching, and I love to prepare this dish when it gets cool!! My Nanny makes the very best Chicken and Dumplings, but since she lives in Toledo, Ohio, I have no choice but to make my own version. In large, heavy pot, combine soup, water, chicken broth, chicken, celery, onion, salt, poultry seasoning, garlic and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat about 1 1/2 hours. Add carrots and cook for another 30 minutes If using chicken breasts, remove chicken from pot, shred it, and return to pot. Add peas and cook only 5 minutes longer. Add dumplings. To make dumplings: Mix baking mix and milk until a soft dough forms. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto BOILING stew. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, then uncover and simmer an additional 10 minutes.
