I never really cared for my mothers' chicken and dumplings, so I decided to make my own. I use the crock pot and just make the dumplings 35 minutes before serving. My dad loves it!

Ingredients For chicken & dumplings

  • 4 lg
    chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 2 tsp
    ground sea salt
  • 1 tsp
    fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 6
    mini bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 stalk
    celery
  • 3 md
    carrots
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh basil
  • 1/2 tsp
    fresh savory
  • 1/2 tsp
    fresh thyme
  • 1 can
    cream of celery soup
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 2 c
    bisquick
  • 1/2 c
    milk plus 1 tbsp
  • 1 tsp
    dried parsley

How To Make chicken & dumplings

    Start by cleaning and chopping the mini peppers. Clean celery and cut into 1" diagonal pieces. Peel carrots and cut into 1/2" chunks. Chop basil, savory and thyme and mix with vegetables. Set aside.

    In a small bowl, mix together soup and sour cream.

    Mix salt, pepper and poultry seasoning in a small bow; set aside. Clean chicken breasts and pat dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle salt mixture on chicken breasts and rub in. Place chicken breasts in 6 qt. crock pot, pour vegetables over chicken. Now spread soup mixture over top and cover. Cook on low for 7 hrs.

    Right before chicken is done, mix Bisquik, milk and parsley.

    Place dough by the spoonful over chicken; cover. Turn crock pot to HI and cook for 35 minutes.
