chicken braid
(4 ratings)
This is a very easy recipe. I make this for church picnics because it is easy to make more than enough filling for 4 braids if needed.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
This chicken braid is a fun dinner your family will enjoy. Crescent rolls form a flaky, buttery crust that holds in a creamy and cheesy filling. The chicken is tender and juicy. Broccoli adds some crunch and color to the filling. We liked the texture of the water chestnuts added too. Combining cream of chicken soup and Colby Jack cheese makes the filling rich and savory with a hint of tanginess. Sure to please everyone, this easy dinner is a nice, cozy meal for family or easy to bring to a potluck with friends.

How To Make chicken braid
Test Kitchen Tips
We missed that this recipe is for two braids and made one very large braid. If you'd like to make two braids, divide the filling between the two cans of dough.
-
1Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients (except crescent dough).
-
2Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.
-
3This step can be done on a work surface or the prepared cookie sheet. Unroll each can of crescent rolls and pinch them together to form one piece of dough. On the long side of each side of the dough, cut slits towards the center about 1 inch apart (leave about 3-4 inches solid to hold the filling).
-
4When laid out, spoon the filling down the middle of the dough.
-
5Bring points over across the filling and tuck points under the braid. There will be gaps.
-
6Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
