Feel free to substitute walnuts if you prefer those. Pecans are just more plentiful where I live and easier to come by!

Ingredients For chicken and pecans in hoisin sauce

    boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1
    egg white, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    dry white wine
  • 1 c
    pecan or walnut pieces
  • 2-4 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp
    hoisin sauce

How To Make chicken and pecans in hoisin sauce

    Cut the chicken into 3/4 inch pieces; place in a medium bowl.

    Mix together the egg white, cornstarch, salt, and wine. Add to the chicken pieces and stir to coat well. Set aside.

    Saute the nuts in oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until lightly browned. Remove the nuts with a slotted spoon; drain on papertowels.

    Add the reserved chicken mixture to the skillet, and cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove chicken, reserving the drippings in the skillet. Drain chicken on papertowels.

    Add the sugar, garlic powder, and hoisin sauce to the drippings in the skillet; cook, stirring constantly for 1 minute or until the mixture is thoroughly heated. Add the reserved nuts and chicken. Cook until thoroughly heated and chicken is cooked. Serve over rice, if desired.
