Ingredients For chicken and dumplings

1chicken, cooked and deboned (save broth)

2 cflour
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/2 cshortening
-
1/2 - 1 cice water
-
2 cchicken broth
-
2 cmilk
-
1/2 cunsalted butter

salt & pepper, to taste
How To Make chicken and dumplings

1Blend flour, salt and shortening until mixture resembles corn meal. Slowly add ice water until it makes a dough.

2Roll dough thinly on a floured surface and cut into strips.

3In a Dutch oven, add the broth and milk. Add the butter. Salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a slow boil, then lower heat and simmer.

4Add one strip at a time to the simmering liquid. DO NOT STIR! Simply push the strip down into the liquid with a spoon.

5Cook for 15 minutes, then carefully and gently add the meat.
