It was too hot to stand in the sun and grill. It was also too hot to turn on the oven. I had 2 nice big chicken thighs and they needed to be cooked for dinner. So out came the air fryer. I am pleased with the results for 3 reasons - I didn't have to stand in the blazing hot sun, my kitchen did not heat up and the chicken was delicious in a very short amount of time !

Preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees F. While it is heating, season the chicken thighs with your seasonings of choice in the amount you want. I use garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, pepper, and brown sugar.

When the air fryer is up to temperature, spray the basket with cooking spray, then lay the thighs down with the skin side up. Set the timer for 18 minutes. After 18 minutes, raise the temperature on the air fryer to 340 degrees F. Flip the thighs, brush with BBQ sauce, and cook for 5-10 minutes.

Flip the thighs one more time, brush with BBQ sauce, and cook for another 5-10 minutes depending on the thickness of the thighs. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature is 165 degrees F. If you are using smaller thighs, adjust your cook time so they don't dry out.
