This tastes exactly like the basil garlic chicken at our favorite Thai place! And it's so easy!! I found the recipe on the Food and Wine website.

Ingredients For basil garlic chicken

  • 1 lb
    boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into bit size thin slices
  • 3 Tbsp
    asian fish sauce
  • 3 Tbsp
    low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 1 sm
    onion or shallot cut into thin slices
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried red pepper flakes or 4-7 thai chili's minced
  • 3-4 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 c
    fresh basil, lightly packed

How To Make basil garlic chicken

    In a medium bowl, combine the fish sauce, soy sauce, water, and sugar stir to mix well. Add the chicken and stir well to coat. Set aside.

    In a large nonstick pan or a wok heat the oil over medium high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Stir in the red pepper flakes and garlic, cook, stirring 30 seconds or until fragrant.

    Remove the chicken from the marinade with a slotted spoon and add it to the hot pan. Cook until almost done, stirring, 3-5 minutes. Add the remaining marinade and cook a minute longer. Turn the heat down to low and mix in the basil, stirring until just wilted.

    Serve along side brown or white rice.
