This sounds plain but is a wonderful comforting dish and sticks to your ribs. It's truly a delicious comfort food.

Ingredients For scalloped potatoes and ham

  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margerine
  • 1/4 c
    plain flour
  • 2 1/2 c
    water
  • 5 lg
    potatoes, about 5 cups
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 c
    chopped, cooked ham

How To Make scalloped potatoes and ham

    Peel potatoes and slice very thin, thin as possible. Set aside.

    Cook onion in butter until tender but not brown.
  • 3
    Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Add water stirring until incorporated.Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat.

    Place half the potatoes in greased 2 1/2 quart covered casserole dish. Distribute half the ham over the potatoes. Cover with half the sauce. Repeat layers with other half of ingredients.

    Bake covered at 350 degrees for one hour and 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
