The third recipe I created for my new chicken and waffles series is a hot one. Sweet waffles on the bottom and hot honey chicken on top, you're gonna need a large glass of milk to go along with it.

    frozen square waffles, thawed
  • 6 lg
    eggs
  • 2 c
    heavy cream, divided
  • 3/4 c
    pure cane syrup
  • 2 Tbsp
    avocado oil
  • 1 bag
    frozen popcorn chicken
  • 1 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1 Tbsp
    Tabasco sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    ranch seasoning
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened

How To Make hot honey chicken and waffles casserole

    Toast the waffles according to package directions.

    Whisk the eggs,1 cup heavy cream and cane syrup together in a large bowl until combined. Cut the toasted waffles into bite-size pieces with kitchen shears.

    Add to the egg mixture and mix well. Cover with aluminum foil. Refrigerate for 4 hours.

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly coat a 13-x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

    After 4 hours, spoon the egg/waffles mixture into a greased baking dish evenly. Set aside.

    Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the popcorn chicken and cook for 5 minutes or until tender.

    Heat the margarine in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add honey, Tabasco sauce, apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes and sea salt/black pepper; stir together until blended.

    Reduce to low heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool completely for 10 minutes.

    In a medium bowl, whisk remaining heavy cream, ranch seasoning, cream cheese and cooled hot honey together for 3 minutes until combined. Stir in cooked popcorn chicken.

    Spoon hot honey chicken mixture evenly onto the waffles mixture. Bake for 30 minutes or until set. Cool at least 6 minutes.
