A patty melt and my famous honey margarine are combined in this casserole recipe I created. This would be so good with a side of fries.

  • 2 1/2 stick
    margarine
  • 3/4 c
    honey
  • 10 slice
    white sandwich bread, toasted
  • 8 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp
    steak seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and sliced
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 1/2 c
    half and half
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 3
    eggs

How To Make honey margarine patty melt casserole

    Whisk the margarine and honey in a small bowl until combined.

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

    Coat the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

    Chop 5 toasted bread slices into 2-inch chunks. Arrange in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

    Process the remaining toasted bread slices in a food processor until they're coarse crumbs. Set aside.

    In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5 minutes until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.

    Season with steak seasoning and stir in 1 Tbsp honey margarine and the Worcestershire sauce. Spoon into the prepared baking dish evenly.

    Heat 2 Tbsp honey margarine in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add sliced vidalia onion and cook, stirring frequently, until soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes.

    Arrange sauteed vidalia onion over the ground beef mixture in the baking dish.

    In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, half and half, cream cheese ,eggs and 2 Tbsp honey margarine; mix well for 3 minutes. Spread onto the beef mixture evenly.

    Top with remaining shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

    In an another small bowl, combine fresh breadcrumbs and remaining honey margarine; mix well. Sprinkle over the casserole.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
