This new burger casserole recipe I created is a play on the butter burger but replaced by honey margarine. It's filled with macaroni, blue cheese, and bacon bits.

  • HONEY MARGARINE
  • 2 1/2 stick
    margarine
  • 1 c
    honey
  • BURGER CASSEROLE
  • 2 c
    crumbled blue cheese, divided
  • 3 c
    dry elbow macaroni
  • 2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 2 Tbsp
    steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 lg
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 1 c
    crumbled real bacon bits
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 3/4 c
    Italian bread crumbs

How To Make honey margarine burger casserole

    In a medium bowl, whisk the margarine and honey together until blended and smooth. Set aside.

    Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Coat a 11 x 7-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add 1 cup crumbled blue cheese and spread 2 Tbsp honey margarine evenly.

    Cook the macaroni according to the package directions; drain. Transfer to a large bowl. Mix 2 Tbsp honey margarine together until blended. Set aside.

    Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the ground sirloin for 5 to 8 minutes until browned and crumbly. Drain and discard the grease.

    Reduced to low heat. Stir in 2 Tbsp honey margarine, steak seasoning and garlic powder. Remove from heat.

    Melt 2 Tbsp honey margarine in a large saucepan. Add chopped vidalia onion, sliced banana peppers and crumbled bacon; saute for 5 minutes.

    Add the flour to the vegetable mixture and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in heavy cream and let it simmer for 6 minutes. Remove from heat.

    Add the macaroni and ground beef mixture; mix well until combined.

    Pour into the prepared baking dish. Spread remaining honey margarine evenly over top and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Add remaining crumbled blue cheese on top.

    Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
