A fifth recipe of garlic Parmesan creation. This time it's a pizza casserole, filled with fusilli pasta, pepperoni, real bacon bits and garlic Parmesan sauce.

Ingredients For garlic parmesan pizza casserole

  • 1 3/4 c
    grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 c
    crumbled cooked bacon
  • 10 oz
    uncooked fusilli pasta
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 8 oz
    white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 md
    vidalia sweet onion, peeled and diced
  • 2
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 2 clove
    garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 2 tsp
    crushed red pepper
  • 1 bottle
    garlic Parmesan sauce
  • 2 can
    sliced ripe olives, drained (2.25 oz)
  • 6 oz
    pepperoni, sliced
  • 2 c
    shredded pizza cheese blend, divided
  • 1 Tbsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper

How To Make garlic parmesan pizza casserole

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Add 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese and crumbled bacon bits; mix well.

    Cook fusilli pasta according to package directions. Drain well and set aside.

    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and remaining grated Parmesan cheese. Saute for 5 minutes until golden brown. Remove to a plate and set aside.

    Add ground beef and sliced vidalia onion to the skillet and cook, stirring for 8 minutes or until the onion is translucent.

    Stir in chopped banana peppers and minced garlic and continue cooking until the beef is no longer pink. Drain and discard excess grease.

    Combine dried basil, crushed red pepper, garlic Parmesan sauce, olives, pepperoni and reserved cooked mushrooms; stir well.

    Let it simmer for 6 minutes. Season with sea salt/black pepper as needed.

    Add cooked fusilli pasta. Toss to blend thoroughly.
  • 9
    Spoon half of the pasta mixture into a prepared baking pan. Top with half of shredded pizza cheese blend. Repeat layers.

    Bake for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbly and the cheese is melted.
