1 bagcole slaw mix (14 oz or 397 gms) or equivalent sliced cabbage

1 lblean ground beef

1 conion. chopped

1 ccooked rice

1 clovegarlic, minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder

1 Tbsplemon juice

1/2 tspsalt
-
1/4 tsppepper
-
1 cantomato sauce (14 oz)

1/3 cbrown sugar

1/4 clemon juice
How To Make elaine's cabbage roll beef casserole

1Set oven to 325 degrees F. to preheat.

2Soften cole slaw mix (cabbage) in microwave for four minutes.

3In a large bowl mix the ground beef, rice, chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.

4Spray a casserole with non-stick spray.

5Layers: Put half the coleslaw/cabbage in the bottom of the casserole. Next make a loose layer of half the meat mixture. Next layer on the rest of the coleslaw/cabbage. Lastly, add the rest of the meat mixture and lightly press to even it out.

6In a smaller bowl mix the tomato sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice. Pour this mixture on the top of the meat mixture. Do not mix it in. Cover casserole with foil. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 40 minutes to an hour until vegetables are tender and meat is cooked (165 degrees Farenheit or 70 degrees Celsius).
