I created this new duck recipe, in the style of a cheesy casserole.

Ingredients For cheesy duck casserole

  • 1 c
    cubed American cheese
  • 1 c
    crushed cheese sandwich crackers
  • 3/4 c
    grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 5
    duck breasts (skin-on), sliced thick
  • 3
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 3 Tbsp
    cheddar cheese seasoning, divided
  • 1
    packet dry onion soup mix
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 c
    cold heavy cream
  • 1 can
    (10.5 ounce) condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 1 can
    (10.5 ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 1 c
    panko bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp
    melted margarine
  • 8 oz
    sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

How To Make cheesy duck casserole

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

    Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add cubed American cheese and crushed cheese sandwich crackers; mix well. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

    Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. Add sliced duck breasts and sliced banana peppers. Saute for 6 minutes or until the duck is tender.

    Season with 1 tablespoon cheddar cheese seasoning, onion soup mix and ground cumin; stir well. Reduce to low heat.

    In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, soups, cream cheese and 1 tablespoon cheddar cheese seasoning, whisking together until blended.

    Pour onto a duck mixture and stir together until combined. Remove from heat.

    Spoon into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

    In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, melted margarine and remaining cheddar cheese seasoning, mix well with a fork. Set aside.

    Sprinkle shredded sharp cheddar cheese and bread crumb mixture onto the casserole.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely for 10 minutes.
