grilled mesquite burgers
(2 ratings)
This is a delicious burger recipe to add to your summer grilling menu. The Mesquite Seasoning adds a wonderful smoky flavor to the patties. You can adjust the burger toppings to suit your taste preferences. NOTE: I use a Grill Mates Mesquite Seasoning to make this recipe. I've included a homemade version of it, in case it's not available to you. I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for it being a perfect copycat. But it's the highest (5 star) rated recipe that most closely matches the ingredient list on the jar that I use.

How To Make grilled mesquite burgers
-
1Preheat outdoor grill to medium heat. Grease the grill grates well with oil.
-
2Mix ground beef and 1 tablespoon of the Mesquite Seasoning in medium bowl until well blended. Shape into 4 patties.
-
3Grill the patties over medium grill heat for 5 to 7 minutes per side or until burgers are cooked throughout and internal temperature reaches 160°F.
-
4Grill onion slices for 2 to 3 minutes per side, or until the white part is very lightly browned.
-
5About 1 minute before removing patties from grill, top each patty with a slice of cheese and let cheese melt slightly for about 1 minute.
-
6Toast each of the bun halves on the grill for about 30 seconds or until lightly toasted.
-
7In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup, mayonnaise and 1/2 teaspoon Mesquite Seasoning.
-
8Spread a bit of the seasoned mayo on each bun half. Place a grilled patty on each bottom bun. Top each patty with some onion slices and a lettuce leaf. Add any other burger toppings of your choice (pickles, tomato, bacon, etc). Add top bun, and serve immediately while still hot.
