cow and pig waltz through the garden
We have something we call BoOp (Box of Opportunities). This is where all those impulse items end up. Or leftover packages of partially-used specialty items. Or the last dribs & drabs of spice bottles. You get the idea. Anyway, I pulled from it an antique, half-used packet of onion soup mix. Decided that ground beef seemed the best option. And, oh, maybe some sauteed onions? Oooh, mushrooms - definitely mushrooms! And, look! there's a partially used ginormous zucchini - must have our vegetables! Pulled out a sausage gravy mix to meld it all together. Finally, really good bread! Yum!

How To Make cow and pig waltz through the garden
-
1Prepare vegetables first (cleaning, cutting, etc). Mix burger with onion soup mix and cheddar; set aside.
-
2Place butter in a 10" saute pan. Allow to melt over medium heat. Once melted, add the onion and zucchini and allow to saute for a few minutes. Add mushroom and turn the heat down to medium-low and allow to cook until softened while preparing the ground beef patties
-
3Form the ground beef into four thin patties. Preheat 12" pan over medium heat. Place patties in pan and allow to fry until fully cooked, turning over as frequently as you like to get a nice brown crust on each side.
-
4While the vegetables and beef patties are cooking, prepare the gravy according to package directions.
-
5Toast the bread lightly.
-
6Lay bread on each dinner plate. Place two burger patties on bread, overlapping as needed. Evenly sprinkle the sauteed vegetables over top. Slather with gravy and serve immediately!
