I came up with this burger recipe for competition cookoffs. This burger balances sweet from the sweet bread and caramelized onion with the heat of the jalapeños. This is an award-winning burger that always places high!

1 lbbacon

1 lgred onion

1 jarhot and sweet jalapeños, 12 oz

1 tspkosher salt

1 pkgHavarti cheese (plain)

8 lgwhole wheat sweet hamburger rolls

1 bagshredded lettuce

1 stickbutter

1 bottleremoulade sauce, 10.5 oz

Rib-eye has a lot of fat so be sure to have a spray bottle of water nearby in case the flames get too high while grilling.

1Cook bacon. Then crumble bacon and reserve grease.

2Saute chopped onion and chopped jalapeños in bacon grease.

3Mix with bacon crumbles and set aside.

4Make 16 thin patties.

5Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

6Place a rectangle of cheese on 8 burgers.

7Then top each with another patty and seal edges.

8Grill burgers on hot coals until temp is desired (140)

9Place a paper-thin slice of cheese on burgers.

10Top with onion, pepper, and bacon mixture.

11Butter each roll.

12Toast on a flat pan.

13Spread rolls with remoulade sauce. Place lettuce on the roll, then burger and top with roll.
