These beef short ribs can also be cooked in a slow cooker or the oven. The chili sauce gives the ribs a very nice tangy flavor. Prep time does not include refrigeration time.

Ingredients For zesty texas short ribs

  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    seasoned salt
  • 2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp
    hot sauce (more to taste or optional)
  • 5 lb
    beef short ribs, trimmed of fat
  • 1 bottle
    heinz chili sauce - 12 oz. bottle
  • 1 c
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 c
    beef broth
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • olive oil

How To Make zesty texas short ribs

    In a small bowl, combine chili powder, seasoned salt, garlic powder, cumin, coriander and hot sauce, if using, and mix well.

    Rub ribs thoroughly with spice mix and place in a gallon resealable bag - refrigerate for 1 hour.

    In a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients and after mixing thoroughly - remove 1/2 cup for basting. Add the remaining marinade to the ribs and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

    Remove ribs from bag and discard marinade. Grill ribs over low heat for 45 min. to 1 hour or until tender - turning once and basting often. Do not baste within last 5 minutes of cooking.
