On LI, New York..there is a hamburger fast food restaurant named Wendy's, that makes the absolute BEST Chili!! Many years ago, a local radio station gave out the recipe, and this is it!! I make it all the time, I am truly addicted to it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Ingredients For wendy's chili

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1
    29 oz can of tomato sauce
  • 1
    29 oz can of pinto beans with liquid
  • 1
    29 oz can of red kidney beans with liquid
  • 1 c
    onion, diced
  • 2
    green chilis, diced
  • 1
    celery stalk, diced
  • 3
    medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp
    cumin powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    water

    Brown ground beef in a large skillet, drain well, and crumble beef with a fork.

    In a large saucepot, combine beef, and all ingredients in order listed.

    Bring to a simmer, and cook, uncovered, stirring every 15 minutes, for 2-3 hours. When chili is done, spoon into bowls and top with diced onion, shredded cheddar cheese, or sour cream, as desired.
