This is a hearty recipe full of chopped cabbage and a meaty sauce. Infused with such flavor, no one will ever realize this dish is lower in carbs. It's very comforting and filling. A healthy dinner recipe.

Ingredients For unstuffed cabbage rolls

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 1/2-2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 sm
    cabbage, chopped
  • 2 can
    diced tomatoes (14.5 oz each)
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce (8 oz), plus more if needed
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How To Make unstuffed cabbage rolls

  • Heating oil in a skillet.

    In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Browning ground beef and onions.

    Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring until ground beef is no longer pink and onion is tender.
  • Adding garlic to the beef.

    Add the garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute.
  • Chopped cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, pepper, and salt added to the pan.

    Add the cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, pepper, and salt.
  • Simmering in a pan.

    Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20 - 30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  • A serving of Unstuffed cabbage rolls.
