I love Stuffed Cabbage Rolls. This casserole is just as scrumptious but with less work!!!! This dish freezes well also.

Ingredients For unstuffed cabbage

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, put through press
  • 16 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    thyme
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 4 c
    cabbage, shredded, shred finely
  • 8 oz
    romano cheese, grated
  • 8 oz
    mozzarella cheese, shredded

How To Make unstuffed cabbage

  • 1
    Grease large casserole dish. Steam cabbage to wilt. Saute beef, drain off fat. Return to skillet and add onion. Heat until onion is tender.

    Add garlic, tomato sauce, salt, thyme and pepper to mixture. Heat thoroughly.

    Place part of cabbage in greased casserole; cover with part of meat sauce; cover this with mixture of cheeses.

    Continue to layer until all mixture is used. Top with cheese.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
