1 lgsweet onion, sliced

3 clovegarlic, chopped

1 Tbspchili powder

1 Tbspjarred beef soup base

1 Tbspworcestershire sauce

1 tspground cumin

1/2 tsppepper

1 1/2 tsphickory liquid smoke

2-3 lbbeef brisket flat, trimmed

1/4 cbeer

3 Tbspbottled chili sauce
How To Make texas style barbecued beef brisket

1Lightly grease a 6 quart slow cooker; add onion and garlic.

2Stir together the chili powder and the next 5 ingredients. Rub over the brisket; place the brisket over the onion mixture in the slow cooker.

3Whisk together beer and chili sauce. Slowly pour the mixture around the brisket (to avoid removing spices from the brisket).

4Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours, or until fork tender. Uncover and let stand in the slow cooker for 20 minutes.

5Remove the brisket from the slow cooker; cut brisket across the grain into thin slices. Return brisket to the slow cooker, and spoon the pan juices over the meat.
