My Grandmother used to make this when I was growing up. It was in her regular rotation and can easily make a very satisfying weeknight dinner. It is absolutely delicious as is, but can be modified with additional seasonings to your liking. I love these older recipes that pay homage to a great youth. Enjoy!

Ingredients For texas jackpot

  • 1 md
    white or yellow onion
  • 1 sm
    green pepper
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 can
    diced tomatoes (14 1/2 oz each)
  • 3 Tbsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb
    wide egg noodles
  • salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make texas jackpot

  • 1
    Chop the onion into small dice. Remove the core and seeds from the green pepper and chop it into small dice.

    Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the beef is mostly brown, add the onion and green pepper. Saute until onion is just translucent.

    Add the water and remaining ingredients. Stir and cover. Let simmer around 20 minutes, or until noodles are cooked to desired doneness, stirring occasionally. Add additional water if mixture becomes to thick.

    Serve hot. This dish is best with a side salad and garlic bread.
