I know everyone has their own taco salad recipe, but wanted to post my own. Every summer my kids would beg to have this for dinner. I think they would have ate it every night if it was possible. I was given this recipe by "Manny and Dale". A wonderful couple that died in a tragic accident many years ago.

Ingredients For taco salad

  • 2 lb
    hamburger
  • diced onion browned with meat
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1
    head of lettuce, chopped
  • 3
    tomatoes, diced
  • 2
    avocados, pealed and diced
  • 1 can
    black olives, drained and sliced
  • 1 lb
    cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 lg
    bottle of thousand island dressing (kraft)
  • 1
    bag of corn chips (doritos), crushed

How To Make taco salad

  • 1
    Brown hamburger (add onion, salt and pepper to taste)drain fat and cool meat before mixing.

    Add all ingredients, except corn chips, in a large bowl and mix well. I added a little water to empty dressing bottle, to get the last little drop and dumped into the mixture. Add crushed corn chips just before serving. Very good on a hot summer day.
