I was going to make hamburgers for supper last night but tired of just plain burgers...had some stuff here to make tacos & thought I'd incorporate all of that into a sandwich... Was going to take a picture but he was starving...so will have to wait til next time for the picture! He said they were good, but a little messy...that's what napkins are for!

Ingredients For taco burgers

  • 1 lb
    ground beef chuck (85/15)
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp
    cumin
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    mrs. dash kitchen blend
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    breadcrumbs
  • 4
    romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 slice
    tomatoes, thin sliced
  • 8 Tbsp
    salsa (two per sandwich)
  • 4 Tbsp
    shredded taco blend cheese
  • 4 tsp
    sour cream
  • 4
sandwich buns (kaiser rolls are good)

How To Make taco burgers

  • 1
Crumble meat in bowl. Combine all the seasonings and add to meat. Break egg into mixture, work into meat with your hands. Add breadcrumbs and combine well.
  • 2
Divide meat into 4 patties, making thinner in center w/thicker edges. Place in skillet and cook over medium heat, turning over halfway through time. I did mine about 10 min first, then 5 on second side for well done.
  • 3
Remove burgers from skillet and blot with paper towelling to absorb any excess grease.
  • 4
Place buns on platter, put 1 Tblsp. salsa on each top & bottom of buns, then layer lettuce, burger, cheese, tomato and sour cream. Top with other half of bun and enjoy!
