sweet and sour meatballs

this recipe was first made for my open house...and family and friends have requested it ever since. In my opinion,boiling the meatballs removes a lot of the grease,and is a great alternative to baking or frying them. And the gingersnaps give the sauce a real kick.

Ingredients For sweet and sour meatballs
- MEATBALLS

5 lbground chuck

1 cbread crumbs

1 pkgdry onion soup mix

3/4 cchopped onion,dehydrated

3/4 cwater
- SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
-
1 cantomato paste,small
-
2 cantomatoes,chopped
-
1 lbbrown sugar
-
1 tspsalt
-
1/2 clemon juice
-
1/2 cvinegar
-
10gingersnaps,crushed fine
How To Make sweet and sour meatballs

1FOR MEATBALLS: Heat large pot of water to boiling. Meanwhile combine all meatball ingredients. Roll into 1" balls. Drop balls about 20 at a time into boiling water. When they float to the top,boil for 1 minute.Remove and drain. replace back in pot or put in slow cooker.

2FOR SAUCE: Mix together all ingredients except gingersnaps. cook half hour add gingersnaps. combine thoroughly. Add to meatballs either in slowcooker on low setting or in pot on stovetop on very low . stir occasionally. cook about 3 hours
