My mom always made this for us when I was growing up. I love cabbage, she made this dish during bad weather days. Especially on her bread making days with hot Parker House Rolls. Of which I carried on the tradition.

Ingredients For stuffed cabbage rolls

  • 12 lg
    cabbage leaves
  • 1 1/4 lb
    ground round or pork
  • 2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    rice (cooked)
  • 1 sm
    onion (chopped)
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1/2 tsp
    poultry seasoning or thyme
  • 2 Tbsp
    wesson oil
  • 2 can
    tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    cold water

How To Make stuffed cabbage rolls

    Place cabbage leaves in bowl and cover with boiling water let stand 5 minutes while preparing other ingredients.

    Combine the next 7 ingredients. Place equal portions in the center of each leaf. Fold sides of leaf roll up and fasten with toothpick or string.

    Brown Cabbage rolls in hot, very large skillet. Pour in tomato sauce, combine sugar, vinegar,and water. Pour half of the sauce on the bottom and place cabbage rolls in sauce, then pour the rest on top. Cover and Simmer 1 hour basting occasionally. Serve Hot.....
