Ingredients For steak and onion pie

1 cup onion, sliced

1/4 cup shortening
-
1 lb. round steak, cut into small pieces

1/4 cup flour
-
2 tsp. salt
-
1/2 tsp. paprika
-
dash ginger
-
dash allspice
-
2 1/2 cups boiling water
-
2 cups raw potatoes, diced

1/8 tsp. pepper
-
dough for 1 pie crust
How To Make steak and onion pie

1Cook onion slowly in shortening til yellow. Remove onion and set aside.

2Roll meat in mixture of flour, seasonings and spices. Brown in hot shortening. Add boiling water; simmer, covered, til meat is tender, about 1 hour. Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes longer.

3Roll pie dough into circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Make several openings for steam to escape. Pour meat and potatoes into greased 8 inch casserole. Cover with reserved onion. Fit pastry over top and seal edges. Bake at 450 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serves 6
