The smoked ham flavor and the jalapeno flavor really make this dish different from the regular casserole. If you have access to smoked salt, that would be a very nice addition to this dish!

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    thick-cut (thick slices) smoked ham
  • 1/2
    onion, yellow
  • 2
    celery stalks
  • 2
    carrots
  • 1
    jalapeno (green or red)
  • 1 can
    diced tomato with chilies
  • 1 can
    cream of celery soup
  • 1 can
    milk
  • 2 c
    pepperjack cheese, shredded / grated
  • 1 c
    breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper

How To Make spicy smoked casserole

  • 1
Mix ground beef with all spices listed, set aside.
  • 2
Dice and sautee onion, celery and carrots. When the onion is translucent, dice jalapeno and add it to pan.
  • 3
Add ground beef to pan. Brown the beef, draining the liquid about halfway through.
  • 4
Dice the smoked ham. Add to pan. Also add the can of tomato and chilies (I love Rotel brand, not the HOT can, but regular).
  • 5
When meat mixture is browned and done, set aside. Boil noodles... while boiling, preheat oven to 375*.
  • 6
Drain noodles. Pour noodles into casserole dish, and top them with the meat mixture. Into the empty pan from the meat, now pour in the cream of celery soup, add can of milk. Heat a little bit and mix to make the soup creamy. Pour this over the casserole.
  • 7
Bake covered at 375* for 25-30 minutes.
  • 8
Take out of oven, sprinkle breadcrumbs and cheese on top, bake for another 15 minutes or until cheese melted.
  • 9
When you take it out of the oven, cover it back up and let casserole sit and rest for about 5 minutes... then enjoy!
