Ingredients For spicy kerala style mutton or beef curry

1 kg( 2 pounds) mutton or beef cubes

2 mdonions, thinly sliced

2 Tbspcoriander powder
-
1 Tbspred chilli powder
-
1/4 tspturmeric powder
-
1inch ginger root
-
6 clovecloves garlic
-
1inch cinnamon bark
-
1 tspwhite poppy seeds, can use black
-
3whole cloves
-
1/2 tspcumin seeds
-
2 cgrated coconut
-
2gambooge (tamarind fruit)

a sprig of coriander leaves
How To Make spicy kerala style mutton or beef curry

1Pressure cook the mutton with salt and set aside.

2Blend coriander powder, chili powder, poppy seeds, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, cinnamon, cumin seeds and coconut. You can grate the fresh coconut if you like or just cut it into smallish chunks

3Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown. Add the coriander and coconut mix to the pan and sauté further for 10 minutes.

4Add the cooked mutton pieces and cover them with water. Cook until the gravy reduces slightly and then add the gambooge. Remove the cloves and discard.

5Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot.
