Ingredients For spaghetti sauce, mom's

  • 1
    recipe meatballs (in jap), prepared
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    ground pork
  • 1/2 c
    onion, minced
  • 1 c
    green pepper, finely chopped
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 36 oz
    contadina tomato paste
  • 45 oz
    hunts tomato sauce
  • 9 can
    cold water from hunts can
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    fennel
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    basil

How To Make spaghetti sauce, mom's

  • 1
    After making meatballs, strain oil and use to brown meats, onion, pepper, garlic and salt. Add ingredients down to the water. Skim fat from surface, bring to a boil. Add all but basil, simmer about 2 hours. Tilt lid to allow some of the steam to escape. Keep sauce bubbling slightly. Add meatballs, simmer 1 hour to thicken. Add basil.
