Got this recipe from my grandmother 50 years ago. I have tweaked it over the years and started cooking in a slow cooker instead of on stove or in oven for hours. You will love this. Enjoy !

Ingredients For slow cooker irish stew

  • 1 1/2 lb
    beef stew meat
  • 2 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 2 md
    potatoes, peeled and cubed-- 2 cups
  • 2 md
    carrots cut into 1/2 " pieces --1 cup
  • 1 md
    onion slicd into thin wedges
  • 1/2 c
    celery - sliced
  • 1 pkg
    frozen cut green beans (9 oz)
  • 1 Tbsp
    instant beef bouillon granules
  • 2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp
    dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 can
    tomatoes (16 oz) cut up
  • 1 1/2 c
    water

How To Make slow cooker irish stew

    Cut meat into 1/2-inch cubes.

    In a large skillet, brown meat, half at a time, in hot oil. Drain well.

    Meanwhile, in a 3-1/2-, 4-, 5-, or 6-quart crockery cooker, combine potatoes, carrots, onion, and celery. Add frozen beans, bouillon granules, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir in browned meat, undrained tomatoes, and water
