A slow-cooker is perfect to use for less tender meats such as round steak. Because the meat is cooked in liquid for hours, it turns out tender and juicy. Trim as much visible fat from meat before placing in the slow cooker to avoid greasy gravy. This is perfect for those busy moms and wives that work all day. Put this on to cook before work and let it do the work for you.

Ingredients For slow-cooked pepper steak

  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 to 2 lb
    beef round steak, trimmed and cut into 3"x1" strips
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 4
    tomatoes, cut into eighths or 1 can (14.5-oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2
    large green peppers, cut into strips
  • 1/2 c
    cold water
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • hot cooked noodles

How To Make slow-cooked pepper steak

    In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. brown beef; drain. Transfer beef to a slow-cooker. Combine the next seven (7) ingredients; pour over beef.

    Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cook for 3 - 4 hours or until meat is tender.

    Add tomatoes and green peppers; cook on low 1 hour longer. Combine the cold water and cornstarch until smooth; stir into liquid in slow cooker. Cook on high until thickened. Serve over noodles.
