Ingredients For sloppy joe meatballs

  • FOR THE MEATBALLS
  • 1 lg
    onion diced
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 3 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce and apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    black pepper
  • FOR THE SAUCE
  • 28 oz
    can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp
    each worcestershire sauce and prepared mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    each soy sauce and apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make sloppy joe meatballs

    For the meatballs
    Add the olive oil to a large Dutch oven. Saute the onions and garlic until the onions are translucent. Scoop out half of the onion mixture and place in a large bowl. Leave the remaining onion mixture in the pan. Set the pan aside off the heat.

    Preheat oven 350 degrees. Mix the onion mixture with the remaining ingredients for the meatballs. Mix it well with your hands. Roll 1 to 2 inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

    While meatballs are baking add the tomatoes to the onion mixture in the Dutch oven. Place over medium high heat. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes letting it reduce and thicken. Taste and adjust for salt and pepper. Serve the sauce over the meatballs.
