Have been making these since in the 50s when I got it off a local TV program. Originally it was made in the oven but I have modified it for a slow cooker. It is a favorite of my friends and family.

Ingredients For short ribs

  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 3 lb
    short ribs (can use part with the bone and part boneless)
  • 2
    medium onions, sliced and cut into forths
  • 1 c
    vinegar (i use half white and half cider vinegar)
  • 1 Tbsp
    paprika (i use hungarian but any will do)
  • 1/2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp
    red pepper (cayenne) to your own taste
  • 1 can
    beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make short ribs

  • 1
    Brown short ribs and put into slow cooker.
  • 2
    Mix all ingredients together and pour over the short ribs in the slow cooker.

    Cover and cook for 2 hours on high and from 6 to 8 hours on low. Will depend on your individual cooker. Mine is one you preset so I can pick the proper time.

    Serve over noodles or over rice.
