An old-fashioned "hamburger hot dish" from an old newspaper clipping. I makes this at lease once a week, My family LOVES it.

Ingredients For shipwreck casserole

  • 1/2 c
    onion
  • 3 md
    potatoes, sliced
  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 c
    diced carrots
  • 1 c
    chopped celery
  • salt and pepper
  • paprika
  • 1 can
    tomato soup
  • 1 c
    boiling water

How To Make shipwreck casserole

  • 1
    Butter a 2-quart casserole. Layer with potatoes, onions, ground beef, rice, carrots, and celery, sprinkling each layer with salt, pepper, and paprika. Combine soup with boiling water; pour over all. Bake at 300° for 3 hours. Shipwreck casserole serves 4.
