My sons growing up loved Hamburger Helpers dinners and after a while I became concerned about the chemicals. So, I started working on making my own versions & this was one of their favorites.

Ingredients For scratch hamburger helper potatoe strognoff

1 1/2 lblean ground beef

1 mdonion chopped

2 clovegarlic, minced

1 cmushroom caps, sliced

1 tspkosher salt
-
1/2 tspblack pepper
-
2 Tbspap flour
-
1 pkgbeef broth
-
1 tspthyme, dried
-
2 lbyuko gold potatoes sliced thin

1 csour cream, lite
-
1/2 cmilk or cream
How To Make scratch hamburger helper potatoe strognoff

1Heat large skillet to medium heat. Add beef, onions, garlic, salt & pepper to large skillet. Brown beef until done & veggies are soft. Add mushrooms until cooked.

2Sprinkle flour over the pan & stir for 2 minutes to coat. Slowly pour in beef broth & let come back up to a slow boil. Add potatoes slices & thyme. Cover for 20 minutes stirring occasionally. When potatoes are tender, remove from heat & add sour cream & cream. Great with rice or egg noodles.

3This is great as a left over the next day. If the dish sauce is too thick, just add water or beef broth.
