Ingredients For salisbury steak

1 lbground beef

1 mdonion, chopped small

1 tspsalt

1/2 tspblack pepper

1 tspsugar

1 sliceof bread, torn into small pieces

1egg
-
oil or crisco, for browning

2 jarbeef or mushroom gravy
How To Make salisbury steak

1Mix beef, onion, salt, pepper, sugar, bread and egg into a bowl until combined. Form football shaped patties from the mixture - I can usually get 4-5 patties that are decent sized.

2Heat oil (or Crisco) in a frying pan and brown patties on both sides. Transfer patties onto a plate once browned, drain the oil, then return patties back to the pan. Add gravy.

3Bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
