Ingredients For salisbury steak

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped small
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 slice
of bread, torn into small pieces
  • 1
    egg
  • oil or crisco, for browning
  • 2 jar
    beef or mushroom gravy

How To Make salisbury steak

  • 1
Mix beef, onion, salt, pepper, sugar, bread and egg into a bowl until combined. Form football shaped patties from the mixture - I can usually get 4-5 patties that are decent sized.
  • 2
Heat oil (or Crisco) in a frying pan and brown patties on both sides. Transfer patties onto a plate once browned, drain the oil, then return patties back to the pan. Add gravy.
  • 3
Bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
