Ingredients For prize winning meatloaf

  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef or turkey
  • 3/4 c
    quaker oats
  • 3/4 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 1/2 c
    grated onion
  • 1 c
    ketchup
  • 5 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    vinegar

How To Make prize winning meatloaf

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredientsin large bowl; mix lightly but thoroughly. Bake 50-55 minutes or until meatloaf is to medium doneness. (Beef 160 degrees, Turkey 170).

    Twenty minutes before the meatloaf is done, drain off grease and liquid. Cover the meatloaf with 1/2 cup of the grated onion. Mix the remaining sauce ingredients in a pan and heat slightly, do not boil. Brush on top of meatloaf. If you like more sauce you can always double the ingredients. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing.
