I love Dirty Rice.. never had made it til i moved to South Carolina. my first time making it i wanted to make cornbread with it... I had made the Rice then after I did that i made the cornbread mix and put it in the oven ....25 minutes later ..the cornbread was not even warm ..lol. my oven went out..so i took the cornbread mixture out of the oven ..turned on my griddles and made hoe cakes(corn bread pancakes) that worked better then i thought it would. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we all do.

Ingredients For oz's dirty rice

1 1/2 lbground beef

1 1/2yellow onion (chopped)

1 1/2green bell pepper (chopped)

1 1/2red bell pepper (chopped)

2 pkgbrown gravy mix

3/4 tspsalt

3/4 tspseasoned salt

3/4 tspblack pepper
-
4 1/2 cwater
-
1 1/2 cuncooked brown rice
How To Make oz's dirty rice

1Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and stir in the ground beef, onion, green and red peppers, salt, seasoned salt, and pepper. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink. Drain and discard any excess grease.

2Stir in brown gravy pkgs, the water and rice. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender, and the liquid has been absorbed, 20 to 25 minutes.
