Beef brisket is such a great comfort food and the addition of the chili sauce/onion soup mix give the brisket a great flavor.

Ingredients For oven-baked beef brisket

  • 1
    beef brisket, 10 - 12 pounds
  • garlic salt
  • 1 bottle
    chili sauce (heinz brand recommended)
  • 3/4 c
    dry onion soup mix
  • 6-8 md
    carrots, peeled and cut into 1" pieces
  • 16 md
    new potatoes (red), washed, and peeled around once

How To Make oven-baked beef brisket

    Trim brisket of most of the fat on the top of the brisket. Rub brisket with garlic salt on both sides.

    Place brisket, fat-side up, in a baking pan and pour the bottle of chili sauce over the top. Sprinkle onion soup mix over the the chili sauce.

    Add approx. 1 inch water around the outsides of the brisket and cover pan tightly with foil.

    Bake brisket at 275 degrees F. for 6-7 hours or until fork tender. Add the potatoes and carrots 1 hour before the brisket is done. Pan drippings make a great gravy - just remove as much fat as possible and thicken if necessary with a cornstarch slurry.
