found this recipe going thru my grandmas old recipe books this was in her Officers Wives Club Recipe book back in 1958 with my grandma's name on it.I remember her making this atleast one time a month in my childhood days. I love when i can find alittle piece of the past to bring back the days of times gone by .

- CORNMEAL MIXTURE

2 cboiling water
-
1 ccornmeal
-
1 tspsalt
-
1 ccold water
- MEAT MIXTURE
-
1 Tbspshortening
-
1/3 cgreen pepper ,chopped
-
1/2 lbground beef
-
1/2 conion, chopped
-
1 Tbspflour
-
1/2 cblack olives, chopped
-
1/2 cgreen stuffed olives, chopped
-
2 ccanned diced tomatoes
-
1 Tbspchili powder
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspgarlic salt
- TOPPING
-
1/2 cgrated sharp cheddar cheese
How To Make operation kitchen tamale pie

1Mix together corn meal,salt,cold water. Pour into boiling water, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened. Cover and continue cooking over low heat 10 minutes.

2Melt shortening in skillet, add green pepper, beef and onion. Cook until meat browns. Blend in flour,add olives, tomatoes, chili powder, salt, garlic salt.

3Line bottom and sides of greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish with cooked cornmeal.Fill with meat and tomatoe mixture. Sprinkle top with grated cheese. Bake for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
