old school beef stroganoff

I've been using this beef stroganoff recipe since high school. So, ummm, yeah, a looooong time. In the south we serve it over rice, elsewhere egg noodles are common. Either way, it's delicious.

Ingredients For old school beef stroganoff

2 lblondon broil

1/2 cflour
-
salt and pepper

3 Tbspoil

1 cchopped onion

4 ozcan mushrooms

1 ctomato juice

1 csour cream
-
cooked rice
How To Make old school beef stroganoff

1Cut meat into 1 inch cubes.

2Drain mushrooms into measuring cup and add enough water to make 2 cups.

3Heat oil in large skillet.

4Salt and pepper meat and dredge in flour.

5Brown in oil in batches.

6Add onion and saute until translucent. Add all meat back to pan.

7Add water mixture and tomato juice to pan. Cover and simmer until tender, about 1.5 hours.

8Stir in mushrooms and sour cream and heat through.

9Serve over rice. Rice is a southern tradition, you can substitute egg noodles.
