This is a tradition in most New England families, especially in the fall. I made mine a little different by adding more than just pork and beans. More protein that way!!

Ingredients For new england-style beef and beans

  • 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    maple-flavored bacon, diced.
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    packed, light brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 1/4 c
    favorite bbq sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/ 16 oz oz
    can pork and beans, undrained.
  • 1/16 oz oz
    can red kidney beans, rinsed, drained.
  • 1/16 oz oz
    can great nothern beans, rinsed, drained.

How To Make new england-style beef and beans

  • 1
    Spray a lg skillet w/ cooking spray, heat over med-high heat. Add ground beef, bacon and onion. Cook until beef is no longer pink. Drain fat from pan. In bowl, combine remaining ingredients, add to beef mix. Stir to mix well. Place in a 2-1/2-quart casserole dish. Bake, uncovered for 1 hr, stirring occasionally.
